Older couple - first home

by Paul Golini: Chair, BILD

Time to pass the pen

I have some news to share. Starting next week, this column will be penned by BILD's new President and CEO Bryan Tuckey.

Bryan leapt into his role at BILD on May 22-and I mean it, he really jumped in and started to get to know the Board of Directors, the members and the issues that are important to the association right away. He told me that his personal goal was to meet or talk to 90 new people in his first 90 days. It's been less than a month and he's more than halfway there!

So now that he's had some time to settle in, and he's well on his way to reaching his first goal, the BILD Board thought it was a good idea for him to reach out to new homebuyers and homeowners by writing about what's new in our world and how it affects you on a weekly basis.

I know he'll do a great job because Bryan comes to BILD with more than 20 years of senior management experience in the home building, land development and renovation industry. He is a planner by trade and was most recently York Region's Commissioner of Planning, overseeing one of the fastest growing municipalities in Ontario. Before that, he was the Acting Assistant Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and a Director of Community Planning at the City of Toronto and the former City of North York.

Needless to say, he's seen a lot over the years and I'm sure he'll have no shortage of column ideas in the weeks to come.
Just before I pass the pen to Bryan, I want to thank you for reading and responding to my weekly columns over the last eight months. I have enjoyed your emails and your tweets and I want you to know that I appreciate all of the conversations that spun out of what you read. Most of all, I want to thank you for helping me spread the word about BILD and the industry that is building the Greater GTA.
