The Greater GTA is my home too

Stephen Dupuis, President and CEO of  BILD.sdweb

Hello. I’m Stephen Dupuis, and I’m very proud to be President and CEO of the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD). BILD is made up of more than 1,400 member companies that make up our association. BILD members are part of a national industry that generates hundreds of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity, not to mention taxes paid.

When it comes to advocacy on behalf of Greater GTA homebuyers and owners, we go all the way to the top! When the City of Toronto moved to double the land transfer tax, BILD fought back. In fact, we’re constantly challenging unnecessary increases in taxes, fees and regulations which would increase the cost of housing.

Day-in, day-out, we’re advocating for housing affordability and choice in municipalities throughout the GTA while the Ontario and Canadian Home Builders’ Association’s, with whom we are proudly affiliated, are doing the same at Queen’s Park and in Ottawa respectively.

Once the final decisions are made by the various levels of government, BILD then  strives to help homebuyers understand the outcomes. Whether it’s explaining the complex rules and forms relating to applying for the GST transitional rebate or the Toronto land transfer tax refund, or understanding green grant programs like EcoEnergy, we try to boil it down, strip away the jargon and acronyms, and let you know how to either avoid obstacles or take advantage of opportunities.

Why is speaking up on behalf of homebuyers so vital to us here at BILD? For the same reason we promote sustainable development and green building. For the same reason BILD members give back so generously to their communities. Because the GTA is our home too, the place where we all live, work and play.
